A BASTion of the Summer Art Scene

What would a summer mixer be without some hot dogs?

This retro-looking painting, Surf Avenue, (cropped here) is one of the three pieces Brooklyn-based artist BAST has on display at Jonathan LeVine's Beach Blanket Bingo. A street artist known for his wheat-paste posters, BAST is credited with influencing the artist collective Faile. Surf Avenue is an acrylic-on-wood piece that's 25 x 30 inches.

Kinda puts you in the mood to play Burger Time, ya?

The exhibit (529 West 20th Street, 9th floor) is open now through August 22.

See yesterday's post for exclusive pictures from the opening.
